Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi (MPLBP) was known as Majlis Daerah Langkawi from the 29th. April 1987, Majlis Daerah Langkawi authorized the Local Authority and is responsible for planning affairs, licensing, sanitation, building, landscape and so on in accordance with the Acts and by-laws adopted Council. Majlis Daerah Langkawi area was gazetted area of 47,848 hectares (478.48 km. Sq.) that covers the entire archipelago of 104 islands of Langkawi Island. Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi (MPLBP) has been enacted on December 16, 2000 and the declaration was completed by HM the Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman on March 24, 2001. Administration MPLBP always responsible for implementing the tasks entrusted to them efficiently and effectively and constantly strives to provide and implement quality services for excellence, satisfaction and comfort of the residents and taxpayers
